Kyree

“Nigga, how much you tryna bet?” Kian started thumbing through a stack of blue faces.

I swirled my red Solo cup around before gulping down the rest of my Henny. “Bro, I’m not tryna bet you and take yo money.”

“You cannot fuckin’ beat me, KP!”

“Can y’all just agree on an amount so we can fuckin’ leave?” Kelcie butted in, puffing on her blunt.

I laughed at her impatient ass while Kian stood there with two bricks of money held up to his ears, jokingly antagonizing me. My brother was definitely the definition of young and turnt. We both had Scatpacks but for some reason, he seemed to think he could win against me in a race to Trap’s block party. I had been driving since I was twelve years old, so I was nice behind the wheel, and Kian clearly forgot that. If he wanted to hand over five thousand though, I wasn’t gon’ complain about it.

“Five stacks. It ain’t gon’ take me but a few minutes to get there, nigga.”

“Shiittt, say less. It’s gon’ take me thirty seconds,” he grinned, walking around the front of his car to get in. “Aye, Ci, you ridin’ with me or that loser ass nigga?”

She finished off her blunt then tossed the remnants in the grass. “Ima ride with KP.”

He nodded then got inside his car. Kelcie and I hopped in mine then we both backed our Scats out my driveway and lined up on the street.

Ki rolled his window down. “Don’t be tryna cheat either, nigga.”

“That be you,” I laughed, remembering how the nigga stayed cheating at games when we were kids. “You ready?”

“Let’s get it,” he shouted then pulled off without a countdown.

Kelcie instantly snapped her seatbelt on because she knew I was about to be doing the dash, and my dash was gon’ read 120mph. Pulling off, my engine roared as I sped down the street, catching up to Ki in a matter of seconds. We were neck and neck for a minute then we hit the interstate where we could really get busy. Weaving in and out of traffic like a NASCAR driver, I hit my exit in less than five minutes. When I peeked in the rearview, there was a car behind me, and Kian was right behind them.

“You know he gon’ be salty he lost, right?” Ci laughed and shook her head. “Y’all niggas stay making some shit a competition.”

“Nah, that be his ass. He can be salty all he want, as long as he give up that money.”

Once we were back on the street, it was a straight shot to Trap’s house, so we finished out the race with me pulling up first. I watched as Trap moved the orange cones from in front of his house so me and Ki could park. Every year that he had the block party, he saved us parking in front of his crib. The benefits of us being his cousins.

“What’s good, cuzzo?” I dapped Trap up after I parked and got out.
